Focusing on these elements will give your brand the best starting point and make the rest of the process easier.

Your message, your audience, and your connection points all need to be properly defined and sorted out. If you are unclear on your brand, your audience will be as well.

First, you need to decide on your message.

You need to decide on what you want your brand to say and what you are trying to achieve. You need to fully understand what the goal of your personal branding is and how it will benefit your business.

Secondly, you need to decide on your audience.

You should paint a very specific picture of the type of person you are trying to target. You need to understand specifically who your audience should be. You should understand who they are, what they want, what challenges they face, and what your brand can do for them. Your message needs to align with the overall demands of your audience—otherwise, it will not resonate with them.

Thirdly, decide on how you will connect with them.

Connecting with your audience is the best way to build trust, loyalty, and credibility. Your audience needs to feel a personal connection with your brand. You should build a relationship with your audience and make them feel included in your content—this includes using appropriate language, replying to comments, and including call to actions in your posts.

This includes things like which platforms you will use and which type of content you create. You should try and join all the possible platforms, with the same username and visual branding elements for consistency.

These are not the only things that need to be considered, but they are three of the most important elements that provide a strong foundation for your brand.

Defining these three simple things will provide you with the groundwork that you need to continue with the rest of the process. Laying the groundwork makes the rest of the process a breeze and provides invaluable support to the rest of your branding and your future success.
